And we're off - With a month in!!
Bradenham Bowls Club
We started off with three friendlies arranged towards the end of April, the first against Scarning Bowls Club and the second with “The Angel” Swanton Morley, unfortunately both matches were called off due to poor weather conditions (heavy rain). The third match away to Watton Bowls Clubs saw us gain a 47–69 win, a pleasing result after a delayed start to the season.
The league matches for the month of May commenced with 13 matches planned where we report a mixed bag of wins and losses. At the time of submission for publication the club played 9, won 6, lost 3, we had 3 matches rescheduled due to the good old English weather, “Rain”. Overall, an encouraging start with members in high spirits and pleased to get back on the green.
Thanks must go to the small, dedicated team who prepare and tend to the green for roll ups and matches. Unlike your lawn at home, its surprising the amount of work that goes into maintaining the green. From removing worm casts, rolling, mowing, Verti cutting, scarifying, fertilising, treating for moss and watering (yes watering after all this rain) are just few of regular jobs to do, the commitment of the is commendable.
The club achieved decent attendances on recent Sunday Roll ups at 2.00pm which gives members new and current an opportunity to hone their skills, check for match selection, have a cup of tea and a Mardle.
This is also an opportunity for anyone interested in taking up the sport, no experience is necessary, and all equipment is provided all we ask is that you flat soled shoes with no heels or ridges to protect the Green.

The club again supported the annual Bradenham Sports & Village Fete on Monday 27th May 2024 by running a Target Bowls stand for Adults and Children to raise funds for the Village Hall. All well supported with the top prize won to Mick Findlay, a life member of the club and a stalwart of the village
