The Playing Season Is Over!!.
Our end of season league positions is:
- In the Age Concern League: We came 2nd this year getting pipped at the post by Kenninghall. In the knockout we got through to the semifinal, getting beaten by Reepham.
- In the Ashill Triples League: We came bottom of the league losing all matches apart from one which was a draw.
- In the Mid Norfolk League: We lost our way a little bit the towards the end of the season, we do not know our finishing position just yet. In the Knockout Cup we got to the semifinal.
Ashby Shield – The 1st leg played at home we lost 51-71 with a 20-point deficit and the 2nd leg at Watton, we lost 60-52. Overall, over the two legs we lost 140 - 103 points (37 points) and the Shield is retained at Watton.
The Jo Taylor Memorial Trophy at Hunstanton where Roly Findlay, Ralph Kinslay and myself represented the club, we were due to play 5 games of 6 ends each (three in the morning and two in the afternoon), our first game we got a bye due to a no show from Cringleford, our 2nd game was against Bintree who we beat 7 – 3, our 3rd game was against Hethersett who we beat 12 – 1. After lunch we played against Aldiss Park where we drew 5 -5 and our last game against our old foe ‘The Angel’ Swanton Morley where we won 8 – 7. Of the 20 teams entered we came 3rd winning £30 for the club.
The Ladies v Gents Competition on Sunday 7th September 2025 took place with the Gents winning 2 blocks - 1 with the overall score to the Gents being 30 – 25. An event which we’ll be running yearly
On Sunday 14th September 2025, we held our Finals Day, with the culmination of the Internal Club competition taking place. An early start was decided upon due to the wet weather closing in and the Ladies Singles, Gents Singles and the Open Pairs commenced with many members showing their support throughout. The results are as follows (winners in BOLD)
- Ladies Singles: Kerrie Futter 11 v 9 Carol Spencer
- Gents Singles: Roly Findlay 9 v 6 Robin Davis
- Open Pairs: Mick Findlay & Phil Hayward 14 v 7 Rosie Hall & Pete Clements
The Roy MacDonald-Jackson Shield which goes to the member who achieved the highest average throughout the season on Sunday and mid-week rollup/drives. The winner was Pete Clements with an average of 7.154.
The Green is now closed; we held our Autumn tidy up day on Sunday 21st September everyone who helped was treated to Sausages butties and a cup of Tea. Our next event is the AGM on Sunday 12th September at 2.00p with Winter Social events to be announced.
